A large-scale industry-academia joint research project leaded by Japanese government has got moving. 4 national universites (Tohoku University, Nagoya University, Hiroshima University, Yamagata University) as 4 individual cores surrounded by totally more than 50 enterprises such as Tokyo Electron Litmited, MAZDA Motor Corporation etc participated in this project, attempting to create new industries such as merged electronic technology, genome editing, robotics using flexible organic materials. Cross-sectoral cooperation started at basic research stage is one of the distinctive feature of this project, and operating expense shared by the government and enterprises fifty-fifty is another one. Industry-university-government will do cooperation to create an innovative field for redevelopment of the Japanese economy.
